Sabia Ceramics originated in 2019 at the height of the pandemic off the central coast of California. Now in Charleston, South Carolina my works are all one of a kind mid-fire, stoneware pieces produced in my home studio in James Island. Clay offered me an opportunity to explore my relationship to design, color, and a way to stay connected to those I loved by making them custom everyday functional wares with an awareness that these pieces will become future fossils some day. My maximalist tendencies, nostalgia for the Deco architecture I was surrounded by in my home town of Miami and my ever growing love, curiosity and respect for ceramics continue to evolve with each piece.
